We can get any slab that you want, no matter the size, species, or style, but working with the wood that we get locally is our preferred choice.  This way we know that it was harvested only from dead or dying trees and was not trucked across the country or from another country.  We like to keep it local here, but are willing to make you any piece of furniture that you will cherish for generations.

Update: We just received a new load of wood slabs that are not yet featured on this page.  Included are two more monster 16′ long walnut slabs, two 12′ white oaks, a 4″ thick and 12′ long hard maple that looks like it should belong to some sort of magical creature, a 40″ wide and 10′ long red oak, plus many shorter wide maple slabs with great spalt and figure.  I also have a few hickory slabs to turn into lovely benches this fall.  Call us or e-mail to inquire about your project.

Maple Slab 1 – The slab is just shy of 16 feet long!  As a soft maple, it’s grain is quite interesting and will really pop after meticulous sanding, planing, and a non-toxic hand-rubbed oil finish.  For an example of some of the magic of the grain figure from soft maples, look at our Woodworks gallery and view the maple kitchen island tp that we just installed.  It’s finish is nothing more that hand-rubbed oil on perfectly smooth wood.  No thick film finishes here to hide poorly prepared wood.  You want to be able to feel the warmth of the wood.

Maple Slab 2 – A matching slab to the one above, this soft maple slab is huge and full of curly grain.  It can be book matched to the other slab for a truly enormous conference or dining table or used to top a long angled bar top.

Maple Slab 3 -

Walnut Slab 7 - This slab was hand flattened with hundred year old handplanes and is a wonderful piece of wood.  At nearly 10 feet long, it will be turned into an exquisite table that will make any house look like a mansion.  The figure towards the crotch end of the slab is wonderfully complex and I personally love the sapwood halfmoon on the edge.

Walnut Slab 2 – From the same tree as the slab above, this one is just slightly smaller and contains a small knot.  Another great piece of wood.

Walnut Slab 3 – One of our monsters!  16 feet of pure, unadulterated black walnut.  Not many of these left around here, this piece of wood is scheduled to be turned into a massive table with matching benches from the next slab of this tree.  That is unless you decide that you must have it and want to work with us to design your own custom piece.

Walnut Slab 4 – More from the same walnut tree.  Perfect for a functional and beautiful bench.

Walnut Slab 5 – Similar to number 4 above.  Perhaps you want two benches?

Walnut Slab 6 – The most interesting slab in the inventory.  Full of figure from crotches, branches, wavy grain.  Striking sapwood complements this wonderful slab.  Perfect for a large coffee table, kitchen island, or small dining table.

Walnut Slab 1 – A narrow and long slab for a bench, or thin bar top.  This slab is thick so it can handle any project that you want.  I envision a bench with individually sculpted seats.
